Introduction

In the last century, the population of Hong Kong has increased rapidly, and the problem of water shortage is serious. The construction of the reservoir has laid a solid foundation for Hong Kong's prosperity. Maybe everyone has passed some reservoir when they are outing or hiking, but do you have time to walk around it?

The weather is getting hotter and hotter, and it‘s getting more and more sunny up the mountain. This summer, Run2gather has prepared four races (Tai Lam Chung Reservoir, Shing Mun Reservoir, High island Reservoir, Aberdeen Reservoir) around the reservoir. In addition to enjoying the scenery of the reservoir, you can challenge yourself and try to walk around the four reservoirs at the speed of the competition.

Tai Lam Chung Reservoir

Tai Lam Chung Reservoir is a reservoir in Tai Lam Chung, Tuen Mun District, New Territories, Hong Kong. It is located in Tai Lam Country Park. It was the first reservoir built in Hong Kong after World War II. Because there are many small islands scattered in different positions in the pond, it is also called "Hong Kong Thousand Island Lake".

Aberdeen Reservoir

Aberdeen Reservoir is a reservoir located in Aberdeen Valley within the Aberdeen Country Park in the southern part of Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. Strictly speaking, there are two "Aberdeen Reservoirs" in Aberdeen Country Park: Aberdeen Upper Reservoir and Aberdeen Lower Reservoir. In addition to a number of barbecue spots near the reservoir, there are “Songhe” Pavilion and “Tai Chi” platform next to the main dam. Due to the shade of trees along the way, the scenery is pleasant, and there are many red bakelite, tea, tin leaf vine and other vines.

Shing Mun Reservoir

Shing Mun Reservoir is a reservoir in the southwest of the New Territories of Hong Kong, located in the Shing Mun Valley area of Tsuen Wan District (Shing Mun Country Park). Because it was built during the 25th year of King George V's accession to the throne (1935), the Upper Shing Mun Reservoir is also known as the Jubilee Reservoir.

High Island Reservoir

High Island Reservoir, located in Sai Kung District, Hong Kong, is the largest reservoir in Hong Kong with a capacity of 281 million cubic meters. The original site of the reservoir is Guanmen (also known as Guanmen Strait or Guanmen Waterway), and it belongs to the same reservoir built in the sea as Chuanwan Freshwater Lake. The project included the construction of two major dykes at both ends of the Guanmen Gate, linking the Sai Kung Peninsula with Leung Chuen Wan Chau, the third largest island in Hong Kong at the time. These two dams are 64 meters high, and there are three auxiliary dams.
